Unit 1
Introduction to engineering drawing, drawing sheet layout and safety precautions, lettering & numbering using drawing instruments, knowledge of different types of scales, determination of R.F. & uses of scales, use & application of conventional signs & symbols, orthographic projections of different objects, introduction and use of AutoCAD commands.

Introduction and basic principles of surveying uses of chain & tape, types of chain and tape, testing and adjustment of chain, corrections to chain and tape, ranging (direct & Indirect), principle of chain survey and its application, terms used in chain survey, offset and its types, field book, method of chaining on sloping ground, field procedure of chain survey, errors in chain survey and plotting procedure, calculation of area (regular & irregular figures).
